Synchronicity – Christian Musicians Devotional

Here’s your new word for the day: Synchronicity.

In this application, it means lining up our actions to God’s plan. Synchronicity starts when we spend time finding out what God is doing, why He is doing it, and how He wants us to participate. Then we come into line or synchronize with His plans, ways, and timing. Synchronicity takes more time initially to seek out God’s plan, but in the end it yields the most amazing life, ministry, and fulfillment.

This excerpt from The Christian Musicians Devotional will help us walk in synchronicity with God as we do the work of music ministry.

Thoughts and Ways

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”

Isaiah 55:8  NLT

Doing what God wants us to do is not always easy. But, doing what God wants us to do, the way God wants us to do it, can be even more of a challenge. God’s method of accomplishing what He wants done does not always make sense to us. We like the easy way. We like the fast way. We like it to happen now. There is a certain security in believing that if we do a certain thing the prescribed way the results will always be the same. God likes change. God likes growth. God wants what is best for us, not necessarily what is safest, easiest or fastest.

As musicians the tendency is to constantly be on the lookout for the golden key—the one thing that we can do to “make it,” the one person we can meet to “get us in.” We focus all our hopes and efforts on THE label deal, agent or manager. But God may have a completely different path for us to follow.

The golden key for us is actually to spend time with God. We need to clearly hear His thoughts not only on where we are going and what we are to do, but also HOW we are to accomplish His goals for us and WHEN we should take the next step. It is easy for us to hear the destination and make plans for the trip based on the path everyone else seems to have taken. And, of course, we know that our trip should start immediately. Unfortunately, everyone else’s roadmap may not yield the same results for us and God’s timing is not always now.

True success and fulfillment comes when we do what God wants us to do, how He wants us to do it, when He wants it done. We can only accomplish this by hearing God’s thoughts and learning His ways.

Father, tell me your ways and thoughts. I will listen.
